Community Organisation Journey

Every successful neighbourhood transformation starts with local people.

We help communities lead the energy transition.

The most successful neighbourhood projects don't begin with technology.

They begin with trust.

Community Volunteering Activity

Local organisations understand their communities, know the people they serve and have the relationships needed to bring people together.

Looped was designed to support those organisations—not replace them.

Together we can create warmer homes, lower energy bills and stronger communities that leave no one behind.

1. Why community organisations matter

Communities don't engage with programmes.

They engage with people they trust.

That's why every Looped Energy Community is built around local organisations that understand the area, speak the language of their community and remain long after a project has finished.

Whether you're a community energy group, development trust, climate action organisation, parish council or local charity, your knowledge and relationships are one of the most valuable assets in creating successful neighbourhood energy projects.

2. Becoming a Local Development Vehicle (LDV)

A Local Development Vehicle is the local organisation responsible for bringing a Looped Energy Community to life.

Think of it as the community delivery partner.

Working with support from Looped, an LDV helps coordinate local activity while ensuring every project reflects the needs and aspirations of its community.

An LDV doesn't need to become an energy expert overnight.

That's where Looped comes in.

3. What does an LDV do?
  • Bring people together: Build relationships with residents, local groups, councillors and businesses.

  • Build community confidence: Help people understand what's happening, answer questions and encourage participation.

  • Coordinate local delivery:  Work alongside contractors, housing providers and Local Authorities to support neighbourhood delivery.

  • Champion local priorities: Ensure projects reflect local needs, opportunities and community ambitions.

  • Create long-term value: Support community ownership, local energy initiatives and future expansion.

4. What Looped provides

You don't have to create everything yourself.

Looped provides the tools, guidance and support needed to become a successful delivery partner.

Community Engagement

Proven approaches for reaching households and building trust.

5. The Five Foundations of Every Looped Community:

6. Building Community Capacity

One of Looped's goals is to leave communities stronger than we found them.

Working together helps build:

New local skills

Community leadership

Energy Champions

Local employment opportunities

Long-term organisational resilience

Stronger partnerships across the neighbourhood

7. Why partner with Looped?

Community organisations often tell us they have the passion to make a difference but not always the technical capacity or resources to deliver large infrastructure projects.

Looped bridges that gap.

We combine community knowledge with technical expertise, investment support and national learning—allowing local organisations to focus on what they do best: building trusted relationships and creating lasting local impact.

9. Learning from each other

Every Looped community contributes to a growing national network.

By sharing experiences, challenges and innovations, communities help improve the model for everyone.

This means every project benefits from the lessons learned by those that came before it—and every community becomes part of something bigger.

Let's build something together

Communities have always been at the heart of change.

Looped exists to provide the structure, tools and partnerships that help local organisations turn ambition into action.

If your organisation wants to play a leading role in creating warmer homes, fairer energy and stronger communities, we'd love to hear from you.
